Audition Call: The Resurrectionists at The Toronto Fringe Festival

For the second year in a row, House of Rebels will be producing an original play in the Toronto Fringe Festival. The Resurrectionists, written by Ross Hammond, is a dark comedy set in rural Ontario in the 19th century.

The Role

We are casting Shelly MacDonald, a young woman who has faked her own death to escape from justice, only for her plan to be derailed by the two doctors who find her body. She is an intelligent, manipulative woman, and very difficult to get close to emotionally.

The Toronto Fringe Festival runs from July 5th to 16th. Involved artists are expected to be available for all performance and tech dates (which are to be determined in the coming weeks). If you have prior engagements during this time, please be up front about this during your audition. Actors may also be asked to participate in House of Rebels media or fundraising efforts over the course of the weeks leading up to the show.

Actors are asked to prepare a short monologue (2-3 minutes will do) and be asked to read a section of the play with a reader from our panel. The audition date for this role is Thursday April 20th from 6pm to 11pm. Auditions will run for roughly ten minutes, and we will contact you via email about your audition time and the exact address. If you have any specific time constraints ("I don't get off work until 7pm", "I need to be gone by 8", etc.) please detail those in your email.

If you are interested in auditioning, please send your resume and headshot (any photo where we can clearly see your face will do) to, and also fill out the attached Google Form

Thank you very much for your interest, we cannot wait to see you!
